Project Case Study

Wellborn Road Grade Separation

Gessner Engineering provided construction materials testing for the $34 million dollar project that rerouted Old Main under Wellborn Road on the Texas A&M University Campus. Safety and efficiency for students, faculty, staff and visitors traveling between the main portion of the campus to its newer western area is enhanced with the grade separation. Gessner was responsible for all sampling, testing and reporting for the project. Our staff monitored the installation of 337 piers, cast 480 cylinders, and performed field lime gradations, moisture density determinations, and nuclear density tests on road subgrade material. Multiple specifications for various phases of the project were tracked and required to provide on-site pass/fail of tests based on project specifications.
