Project Case Study
Sul Ross Elementary
The scope of this redevelopment was to demolish all existing structures except for the cafeteria building which remained on the most southeastern portion of the site. New building additions connected to the cafeteria and expanded toward the northwest corner of the property. The project site is generally located between Parkway Terrace, East Villa Maria Road, and Carter Creek Parkway in Bryan, Texas.
Land Surveying – Gessner Engineering performed a topographic survey of the 10.98 acre site which identified sanitary sewer horizontally and vertically (invert of existing storm and sanitary sewer manholes and inlets).
Civil Engineering – Sanitary sewer service for the existing school was originally provided by a service line that extended from the cafeteria building to the sewer main running parallel with Carter Creek Parkway. Because the additions were located primarily on the north/northeastern side of the property, we proposed that the sanitary sewer tap for the new buildings be connected directly to the manhole along Carter Creek Parkway. However, a city ordinance stating only one sewer tap be used per site was then enforced. After coordination with the client and the city, we designed an additional 1,000 LF of sanitary sewer line to reroute the proposed sewer service to the sewer tap that was previously utilized on site for the cafeteria building.
