CSISD Intermediate School
Gessner Engineering provided construction materials testing for the new two-story intermediate school and surrounding site improvements. The building totaled approximately 122,500 square feet. We performed soil compaction testing, concrete testing, grout testing, and structural inspections. Tests included proof rolls of building subgrade, standard proctor (ASTM D698) compaction curves for building fill material, in-place nuclear density testing of building fill material, pier monitoring, proof rolls of pavement subgrade, percent lime determinations, field gradations, in-place nuclear density testing, standard proctor (STM D698) compaction curves for sidewalk subgrade and utility trench backfill, in-place nuclear density testing of utility trench backfill, and 15 sets of unconfined strength cylinders for cement stabilized sand utility trench backfill. Concrete testing included approximately 72 sets of 4-5 cylinders cast for drilling of piers and concrete pours for building slab; approximately 20 sets of six cubes cast per grout pour for non-shrink grout at column base plats; approximately 85 sets of 5 cylinders cast
per pour for concrete pavement and sidewalks; and approximately 46 sets of 6 cylinders cast per pour for inlet boxes, mow strips, and transformer pad.
