Gessner Engineering provided geotechnical engineering services for the two-story residence and lake. The residence totaled approximately 13,800 square feet and the lake is anticipated to range between 5 feet and 15 feet deep. For the residence, subsurface conditions were evaluated by drilling 13 test bore holes at depths ranging from 15 feet to 25 feet within the limits of the residence and site structures. Gessner Engineering recommended a structural slab to isolate the foundation from the soils through the use of cardboard forms or crawl space. For the lake, subsurface conditions were evaluated by drilling eight test bore holes to a depth of 25 feet within the limits of the proposed lake. Gessner Engineering recommended the lake bottom be constructed in the clay material found at the site, at a depth ranging approximately 2 feet to 10 feet below the existing grade.
