Gessner Engineering provided the geotechnical and structural engineering as well as the construction materials testing for the Ranch House Additions in Central Texas. This project involved the addition of a two-story structure with the main level primarily displaying numerous exotic hunting trophies and artifacts. The basement area incorporates a wine room and lounge area. The design was modeled in AutoCAD and designed using RISA software and hand calculations. Member connections in the vaulted area were closely coordinated with the architect to incorporate the connection of large timber beams beneath the welded up tube frame. Highlighted elements included a large vaulted display area with cupola, cast-in-place retaining walls and cast-in place pan joist floor system.
