Gessner Engineering provided civil and geotechnical engineering services for the new elementary school and athletic complex. For geotechnical engineering, subsurface conditions were evaluated by drilling five test bore holes to a depth of approximately 20 feet within the limits of the proposed elementary school and two test bore holes to a depth of approximately 5 feet within the limits of the proposed parking lot. For the athletic complex, exploratory borings were performed in the parking area, football field and agriculture building. Civil design services involved drainage, utilities and pavement design for the large athletic complex and parking lot. This project budget brought on a unique challenge with drainage. The budget did not allow for storm inlets and Gessner Engineering responded by designing the entire site to sheet flow.
