Gessner Engineering provided geotechnical engineering services for the two new buildings and associated parking lots located on 21 acres at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center in Bryan, Texas. The two buildings have a combined footprint of approximately 156,000 square feet. Subsurface conditions were evaluated by drilling 23 test borings to depths ranging from 10 feet to 70 feet. Due to the very high expansion potential of soils found at this site, the primary recommendation was for the facility to be supported on a structural slab. Test results were evaluated relative to each other and based on experience to ensure lab tests were providing accurate results. All reporting was peer reviewed then followed by a review from the project manager. After providing the geotechnical report, Gessner Engineering provided specifications and requirements, as requested.
