The project scope consisted of the development of a 63.7 acre site including the main high school building, a field house, two ticket booths, a concession stand, three press boxes, a greenhouse and tennis buildings totaling over 450,500 square feet. Along with the buildings, the site includes a turf football field, track and field event areas, four football practice fields, a baseball field, a softball field, tennis courts, and required parking.
Civil engineering services for this project included the design of an entire water system network including over 6,000 linear feet of water pipe to supply both fire and domestic water service, approximately 3,000 linear feet sanitary sewer system connecting to the City of College Station sanitary sewer and about 10,000 linear feet of storm sewer pipe that discharged into two separate detention ponds. Gessner Engineering also developed the grading plan for the site, including the baseball, softball, and football practice fields, and paving plan for the complex site. Gessner Engineering utilized BIM techniques to model the existing and proposed topography as well as the water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer pipe networks to ensure a balanced site and minimize conflicts.
Due to the unique location of the CSISD High School Site, Gessner Engineering conducted a study of the entire watershed feeding the adjacent creek to determine the 100 year flood elevation. Coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was required to ensure proper erosion control methods were utilized to protect an on-site wetland.
