Gessner Engineering provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for the Creekside Professional Buildings located off Highway 6 in College Station, Texas. The project scope comprised six buildings totaling 52,600 square feet of commercial office space. Gessner Engineering provided the foundation recommendations for the buildings and pavement recommendations for the 259-space parking area. Central Texas ENT: Gessner Engineering provided structural engineering services for this project. This medical office building is a model light-gauge construction project comprised of numerous small patient rooms and offices. The building integrates a steel frame, bar joists for the roof (including bow string joists to form the curved roof) and light-gauge metal stud framing. The superstructure is constructed on a cast-in-place concrete slab-on-grade foundation system. A rigid foundation was designed due to the small footprint of the building. The network of shallow grade beams and the monolithic slab pour were able to be placed with relatively shallow soil preparation due to the stiffness of the foundation. The combination of structural materials used for the superstructure provided a strong and efficient facility while using the form designed by the Architect.
Ashford Square: This building located in College Station comprised open areas to be used for office space. The steel frame system included an exterior and interior steel frame with a roof diaphragm consisting of light gauge roof trusses.
