Gessner Engineering provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for the one-story building totaling approximately 11,260 square feet. Subsurface conditions were evaluated by drilling nine test bore holes; five to a depth of 25 feet and four to a depth of 5 feet, within the limits of the proposed building and parking area. After the soils were thoroughly tested in our lab, it was determined that expansive soils were present on the site. As a result, Gessner Engineering recommended a stiffened slab-on-grade supported on piers foundation system.
